Vita / Lebenslauf:
Excited to paint whatever grabs my attention. Sometimes this is an interpretation of what I see and other times I paint in a fairly representational style. Whatever the outcome the starting point is located within the reality of my environment.
Sometimes the landscape pure and simple where my mind has engaged with a light effect which has changed what are normally familiar ingredients. Drama has been added as new colours illuminate the once commonplace everyday, visual contents.
Othertimes it might be the urban environment and the interplay of moving figures within the confines of surrounding architecture.
Recent interests have taken me above the ground level to gain a new perspective on the landscape. Drawing the landscape from a light aircraft reduces the familiar physicality of height and depth to a much simplified linear view and the hurried drawing adds to the simplicity of the painting. This is an interpretation, a re-presentation of what I saw.
Looking down on the groupings of busy people is a further interest as a subject for me to paint giving a new angle on the familiar.
